Toshiba’s Totally Enclosed Air-to-Air Cooled (TEAAC) motor series is designed for exceptional durability and performance in demanding conditions. These motors excel in wet, dirty, or dusty environments, ensuring reliable operation. The advanced cooling system effectively dissipates heat by circulating hot air through an internal heat exchanger, keeping the motor at optimal operating temperatures without exposure to external contaminants. This consistent cooling performance reduces maintenance needs and enhances operational efficiency. TEAAC motors are ideal for a variety of applications, including powering pumps and compressors in the oil and gas industry, operating equipment in marine environments, and handling corrosive substances in chemical processing plants.

Cast Iron Frame & Carbon Steel Heat Exchanger Tubes enhance durability and corrosion resistance, extending the motor’s lifespan in harsh conditions.

 

Fan Design

3-D fluid analysis is used to model airflow and optimize fan design, providing maximum airflow with reduced frictional losses.

 

Frame Construction

Finite element analysis is utilized to determine optimal rigidity. The design reduces vibration by maintaining stator-to-frame concentricity.

 

Ingress Protection

IP54 protection enhances durability by guarding against dust and splashing water, extending the lifespan of internal components. This robust protection enhances operational safety and makes the motor suitable for demanding industrial environments.

 

American Petroleum Industry Standards

Capable of meeting API® 541 & API® 547 used in the petroleum, chemical, and gas industries.

 

Thermal Protection

Embedded 100 Ω platinum stator RTDs, two per phase terminated in an auxiliary box, help protect the motor’s insulation system from excessive heat and unsafe operation.

 

Humidity Protection

120V space heater is included in all frames.

 

Vibration Provisions

Designed for mounting vibration sensors (1/4” NPT) on each bearing bracket.

 

Drive Duty Compatibility 

The insulation meets NEMA MG1 Part 31 standards.  It can be paired with a UL-Listed Medium Voltage Drive, which features a motor-friendly multiphase neutral point clamped output.

 

Rotor Options:

Aluminum Rotor

High-pressure diecast aluminum rotors offer a lightweight, cost-effective solution. Low rotor inertia improves acceleration and deceleration, while excellent thermal conductivity enhances cooling. Corrosion-resistant properties increase reliability in harsh environments.

 

Copper Bar

Copper bar rotors deliver high electrical conductivity for improved efficiency and reduced losses. They provide higher starting torque and operate at lower temperatures, making them ideal for heavy-duty, high-performance applications where thermal stability and energy efficiency are critical.

 

Insulated Bearings

  • An electric motor operating on an adjustable speed drive is at risk for premature bearing failure caused by stray currents. Experience indicates using insulated bearings on both ends of the motors is the most effective way to protect the motor from destructive currents. A high level of bearing protection is especially beneficial in applications where motor maintenance and replacement are difficult.
  • Extended Horsepower Capability

  • Extended horsepower capability allows a smaller motor to run at a higher horsepower than its baseline depending on the application requirements. This provides motor users potential cost savings while achieving the same motor performance.
  • Insulation with Wide Thermal Capability

  • Critical cooling motors utilize many Class H insulation materials in its winding designs, which provides increased thermal protection. These motors operate with a very low temperature rise at rated conditions, giving them a wide thermal margin and extended motor life.
  • Low Vibration

  • A vibration level exceeding NEMA MG1 requirements provides stability and durability by prolonging motor and bearing life and helping to reduce downtime.
