Does Toshiba have any online videos for the AS3?
Is the AS3 dual-rated and what does that mean?
Yes. The AS3 has a Heavy Duty (HD) rating and a Normal Duty (ND) rating. The ratings are designated on the nameplate of the drive.
Is the AS3 UL Listed? CUL listed? CSA approved?
Yes.

Does the AS3 work on single-phase power?
Yes, the drive must be de-rated when operating on single-phase power. The rule-of-thumb is to use a drive that is double the HP size of the motor. Make note about removing RF/EMI filter.
What are the AS3 ratings?
230 V: Up to 75 HP HD and 100 HP ND
460 V: Up to 450 HP HD and 500 HP ND
460 V: Up to 450 HP HD and 500 HP ND
What are the lead length recommendations for the AS3?
Up to 600 ft without a long lead filter.
Does the AS3 work with permanent magnet motors?
Yes.
Is the AS3 RoHS compliant?
Yes.
What is RoHS?
Reduction of Hazardous Substances Directive. RoHS restricts the use of hazardous materials in the manufacture of electrical equipment.
Is a real time clock available?
Yes, it is standard. Use it for Past trip monitoring or Calendar Functionality.
Is the AS3 available in 12- or 18-pulse configurations?
18 Pulse kits are available for Toshiba Approved panel shops.
Is the AS3 available in Active Front End?
Only available by using external third party front end products.
Does Toshiba offer Heatsink Flange Kits?
Yes. Flange-mount kits that allow the AS3 to be mounted in an enclosure with the heatsink out-the-back are available for all HP ratings.
Are Dynamic Brake TRANSISTORS standard on AS3s?
Yes for 230V units up to 50HP HD/60HP ND and 460V units up to 100HP HD/125HP ND and the 250HP HD/350 ND model. All other units require a dynamic braking transistor option to be installed.
Does the AS3 support DC-Injection Braking?
Yes, adjustment range includes: Frequency start, % current, time on and forward / reverse activation selection. [ F249 to F253 ]
What is the NEMA/IP enclosure ratings?
230 V, HD: Nema1/ IP20 up to 50 HP and IP00 above 50 HP
230 V, ND: Nema1/ IP20 up to 60 HP and IP00 above 60 HP
460 V, HD: Nema1/ IP20 up to 100 HP and IP00 above 100 HP
460 V, ND: Nema1/ IP20 up to 125 HP and IP00 above 125 HP

Do I need a conduit adapter for the AS3 to be Nema1?
Only for units that are frame size A6 and above.
What is the SCCR Rating of the AS3?
100 kA with appropriate branch circuit protection. See Section 9.2 of the Instruction Manual.
What option cards are available?
Extended I/O terminal board(s), premium safety module, encoder feedback cards, 120V logic input card, dynamic braking transistor option.
Is there be a remote keypad available for the AS3?
It is not a separate item. The LCD keypad is detachable, and attached to the Door-Mount Kit purchased separately.
Are there any assembly unit options available for the AS3? What enclosure types?
Yes. Nema 1, Nema 3R, Nema 4, Nema 4X, Nema 12, IP55. The AS3P is a Standardized Pre-Engineered N3R Package. Others available through Engineering.
Does the AS3 have an internal reactor?
Yes. All AS3 units have an internal DC link reactor (DCL.) For 460 V units 300 HP and above, the DCL ships loose to be installed in the field. Installation instructions are in the installation and operation manual.
Does the AS3 have Safe Torque Off (STO) as standard?
Yes.
What is STO?
STO is a standard which meets a SIL 3 category rating.
Is the terminal board detachable?
Yes.
What is the NEMA/IP rating of the keypad?
IP65.
What is the purpose of the mini-USB port on the keypad?
The mini-USB port is used for updating the keypad firmware by the factory.
How many inputs and outputs are standard?

Does Toshiba offer Functional Programming Blocks?
Yes, this is called My Function on the AS3.
Do I need a special cable to connect my computer to the AS3?
An RS485 cable or a generic ethernet cable will work.
Are there embedded communication protocols on the AS3?
Yes. Modbus RTU, Ethernet IP, and Modbus TCP are embedded. TWO Built-in Dual Port Ethernet IP are standard. This allows for "daisy-chain" ethernet installations, reducing the need for Ethernet Switches.
How easy is it to connect to the Allen Bradley PLC? i.e. EDS file, AOI?

What communication options are available on the AS3?
ProfiNet, Profibus DP, DeviceNet, EtherCAT, CAN Open (in addition to the embedded protocols)
Can I connect to the AS3 via wireless internet?
While the AS3 does not have Wireless built-in, you can use a separate WiFi access point to support Wireless Connectivity. For instruction, please see AS3 Application Guideline 3.1.0

Can the AS3 keypad display in other languages? If so, what languages?
Yes. The default setting is English and you can select among English, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Chinese (simplified.), French, Russian, and Japanese.
Does the AS3 support VLP?
No. Certain function have been replaced with My Function along with advanced PID features.
What is the overload rating of the AS3?
Heavy Duty (HD): 110% Continuous, 150% for 60 sec, 180% for 2 sec for frames A1 through A6, and 165% for frames A7 & A8 (250 to 450 Hp)
Normal Duty (ND): 105% Continuous, 120% for 60 sec, 150% for 2 sec

What is the temperature rating of the AS3?
Ambient Temperature: 14° to 122°F (-10° to +50°C) or 140°F (+60°C) with Derate.
What is the altitude rating of the AS3 without derate?
Current reduction necessary if above 1000 m for all frame sizes, reduced by 1% for each 100 m over 1000 m.
What is the humidity rating of the AS3?
Range from 5% to 95% non-condensing.
Does the AS3 provide predictive maintenance alarms?
Yes.
When should I remove the RF/EMI filter?
Grounding setup cases. See manual for further detail.
What step will most people miss when setting up an AS3?
Switching Switch 1 (SW1) to Sink (UP) or Source (down).
What parameters are most used on startup?
F295 - enables HOA switching during Auto Run (if required)
F701 - Current/Volts unit select, either % of full range, or V and A
F301 - Auto Restart - this is the "Catch a spinning motor" function

What is the default position of the Sink-PLC-Source dip switch (SW1)?
PLC (center position).
Why does the drive display PrA on first power up?
PrA displays when the STO terminal is OFF. To engage the STO terminal and clear the PrA code, move the SW1 switch to the Sink or Source position.
What is Dual PID in the AS3?
Dual PID is an improved method of PID control intended to minimize error and reach the desired set point quicker than traditional PID.
Does the AS3 have sleep mode?
Yes. Parameters are F256, F259, F391/2/3 . For instruction, please see AS3 Application Guideline 2.3.1.

Does the AS3 support "Coast-to-Stop" without odd work-arounds?
Yes, change parameter F248 (select the frequency to Coast) to upper limit frequency.

Can I view the drive serial number and firmware on the keypad?

Can I copy parameters to the keypad while the VFD is running?
Yes, on firmware V128 and higher.
Can I copy parameters between VFDs with different HP ratings?
Yes, on firmware V118 and higher.
Can I turn on the keypad without main power?
Yes, use a 24V DC power supply on control terminals +SU and CC. This can allow you to program a drive before it is installed or retrieve parameters and past trip history during troubleshooting.
Can I connect the keypad to a computer and load a configuration file?
Yes, using our PCM002Z software and a USB-to-miniUSB cable. The configuration file can then be copied to the drive after power is applied.
Can the AS3 do load sharing over Ethernet?
Yes.
Does Toshiba have data packets for AS3?

How easy is it to upgrade from a G9, P9, or AS1 to an AS3?

Can I display the motor RPM on the keypad?
Yes, you can apply a multiplier to the frequency to display motor RPM using parameter F702.
Can I display the output speed on the keypad?
Yes, you can apply a multiplier to the frequency to display the output speed using parameter F702. This will be a linear display.
What is the default carrier frequency of the AS3?
4 kHz for 230V units up to 40HP HD/50HP ND and 460V units up to 75HP HD/100HP ND. 2.5 kHz for all other units.
Can I program a single terminal to more than 1 function in the AS3?
Yes. Input Terminals F, R, RES, and S1 support up to 3 functions each. Output Terminals R1A-R1C and FP support up to 2 functions each. For instruction, please see AS3 Application Guideline (TBD).
Can I program an input terminal through the monitor mode?
Yes, primary function (Function1) only.
What is the purpose of the QR codes and how do I use them?
You can generate a QR code on any Parameter, Fault, or Alarm by pressing the "Info" button. It's a lower-case i with a circle around it. QR codes are intended help users get general information about the AS3 drive and support when the AS3 is faulted. A QR code can be scanned by a smartphone and the user will be directed to the Toshiba website with information and troubleshooting techniques for the specific fault that occurred.
Can I copy parameters from one VFD to another?
Yes, the standard keypad supports Copy/Paste functionality between multiple AS3's, or you can use Toshiba's free ASD Pro Software.
How many file sets will the keypad hold?
Up to 16 separate sets can be store.
How can I setup Hand/Auto Mode on keypad?
Go to parameter F750 and set to a "2". Then press "Hand/Auto" button to select mode.
How can I change what I see in Monitoring mode?
F711 through F718 are (8) User-Selectable Monitor settings. Example: Change F713 (Monitor Mode 3 display) from "4 - Output Voltage" to "1 - Frequency Command Value"
